I started my business in 2019 on the back of maternity leave. It was called and still is today 'Shannon's Crafty Creations. I started with a Cricut machine on my kitchen table. I started making a few items for friends and family and venturing out every chance I got. I grew my Facebook quite quickly and within a year and a half, I was making quite a bit of an income to the point I quit my job. I moved from my kitchen table to an area off my kitchen.
After staying home running my business full time for roughly a year, I got quite bored and ended up closing my business down and returning to a full time nursing position. After being assaulted in that position, I reopened my business.
I then dabbled in sublimation and that was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! I remember when I pressed my first mug and there was no weeding or vinyl getting stuck and having to recut! It was MAGIC.
During all of this time, I ran a cricut group where I taught cricut classes and ran craft days. It was such a great opportunity to meet new crafters, teach new skills and connect with new businesses. I managed to secure many sponsorship opportunities during the classes.
I started my TikTok journey at the end of 2023 and it simply started to connect with other crafters. I have definitely had my fair share of lessons learnt. I focused on creating videos and finally was brave enough to go live for the first time which was interesting. I then fell pregnant with my last baby and had quite a few months off Tiktok. When I returned, I focused on being consistent, craft tutorials and building a friendly community. I have definitely achieved this.
I have been given many opportunities such as reviewing presses for HTVRONT, being an ambassador for Next Level Crafting Blanks and Luxe Craft Blanks.
I think we all start for different reasons. Mine was that I was feeling withdrawn and craving human connection due to being at home quite a lot. I have had many health journeys since starting my business and I do believe that crafting definitely kept me sane.
